London’s EAST END constituency member of parliament GEORGE GALLOWAY declared the area ‘liberated’.
He made the declaring as he spoke to his ‘respect’ coalition members and supporters in the weavers ward in the London borough of tower hamlets council on Saturday morning.
Galloway spoke after a respect party procession walked through brick lane which leads almost straight to his party HQ situated in club row in the weavers ward.
The event was part of a series being held across the English metropolitan centres where the Galloway-led respect alliance is contesting some of the local council seats at the elections scheduled in just 11 days’ time.
The significance of the Galloway party procession through brick lane was not obvious in the mainly Blair out slogans that participants shouted.
It was noticeable that no slogan was raised against crossrail. It is the UK Government’s transport Bill, called the crossrail Bill, which contains provision for powers to dig a big hole in the middle of the Brick Lane London E1 area. The one issue that has created the unprecedented awareness about the existence of a local council in the east end over the past few months.
When asked about the absence of any slogans about Crossrail a |respect party candidate for the council ward that contains the target of the crossrail shaft [hole] was unable to give an original answer.
Which is in contrast with the recent record of George Galloway himself speaking against the crossrail hole plan bill.
In several speeches and comments, Galloway has stated that if the proposed CROSSRAIL hole is dug in the brick lane London e1 area then he would lead a manual wall of resistance against the hole being dug.
Other political groupings have not yet held similar displays of electoral parades in the area.
One ward that RESPECT organisation has focussed on is the Shadwell ward, currently held by the Blair-affiliated ‘leader’ of Tower Hamlets Council Michael Keith and two of his colleagues.
The focus is linked with the increasingly venomous exchanges between Galloway’s RESPECT party and the Blairist Michael Keith, whoa Galloway believes is deeply sleazy and needs to be kicked out on 4 May the date of the scheduled council elections.
One RESPECT party member said to aadhikaronline, “Our campaigners are working flat out in Shadwell, so much so that they are scarcely able to spend any time in some other council wards we have targeted for the polling day.”
